  1.                                      BIOMICROSCOPY

  3. A complete biomicroscopic examination is required prior to contact lens fitting.  One must rule out any ocular disease that might contra-indicate contact lens fitting,  detect any conditions indicating a certain type of lens, and record any abnormalities present prior to fitting so one knows if contact lens wear has caused changes.

  5. The biomicroscopic examination should include an examination of:

  7. - the lids and lid margins
  8. - bulbar conjunctiva
  9. - tear film
  10. - inferior palpebral conjunctiva
  11. - eversion of the upper lid to examine 
  12.         superior palpebral conjunctiva
  13. - limbal area
  14. - cornea
  15. - anterior chamber angle
  16. - iris and crystalline lens
